// The tabernacle //

// The temple, directly across the street //

I snapped these photos in Brigham City back on Mother's Day while out on a walk. I can't believe there's a temple right on Main Street! It is already so beautiful, I love to check in on the progress every time I visit.

SIX MONTHS

Mother's Day my family got to skype with Taylor (who's serving an LDS mission) in Germany. My two brothers are doing summer sales in California so they were both skyping as well. 5-way Skype!

It was the best 40 minutes.  Honestly it felt like a normal Jardine afternoon: loudness, weird faces, weirder jokes, and a ton of laughing. Taylor looks so good and I  just know he's in the right place.

At the end of the call Brian suggested we have a family prayer. One of the top 10 best Jardine family moments. I still get pretty emotional talking about it, but I was so grateful that we could all be "together" for a little bit.

Taylor hit his six-month mark today! I'm so proud of him and his dedication to his work as a missionary.

I love you Elder Jardine!

the singles ward. activity.

Since I've been in a singles ward (for the second go-round), I've declared myself as a "back-row" mormon. I go to church, I'm nice to the people that are sitting in my vicinity.... but I rarely go to any activities. like, I think I've been to one in two years. I still get people that ask if I'm one of the new ones! I am very comfortable in my little bubble of "bolt as soon as the last 'Amen' is said".

So, just try to imagine my excitement, when I was called to the ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE.

(warning: diva moment)

UGH.
go out of my way?
get out of my comfort zone?
attend an activity?

Well, this last weekend was our huge, multi-ward river rafting trip. Camping for 3 days in Wyoming with 168 people I hardly knew.

I registered about... 2 weeks ago.
I was called as a group leader as well, so that really sealed the deal.

....

SURPRISE!

It was a total blast. I fully enjoyed myself. really. I met a ton of new people. I laughed harder than I have in weeks. I made really good friends who were strangers just 24 hours before.

I am an idiot.
I am humbled.
I get it, I'm not in charge!

sometimes you don't know why you are where you are,
until you do what you have been asked to do.

Orchestration

Tyler took me to the Symphony tonight(oh how I LOVE the symphony) at Abravanel Hall. Whilst the music is playing I love to just let my mind wander and let the music direct my thoughts. The entire symphony was dedicated to the 4th of July-a patriotic tribute, so you can imagine, the music was very powerful as it ebbed and flowed throughout the concert....

As I listened to the music, its sound was absolutely perfect. I started thinking that we(you and me) are all in a symphony, and the Lord is the composer and conductor of our songs. He orchestrates everything perfectly. Even during the minor(flat) parts of the composition when it seems straining and wrong, the major parts come in and resolve everything, letting us know that it was worth it to play through the strain to have the harmony and grand finale that we all desire.

He really knows what He's doing. This is one seriously beautiful symphony.
